I was disappointed Doug couldn't come down for Father's Day but it was transportation issues and they had just moved into a new apartment. Trish and Amy couldn't come down from Bonney Lake either because Trish already committed to hanging out with her older sister Jean for her birthday in Seattle.
That day I got up and started getting everything all set up. The day before, I bought the meat for Grammie and she would just pay me back and the stuff I was going to provide. Mom and I had gone to the dollar store as well to see if they had some serving bowls and stuff for the taco toppings. We made sure we had enough chairs for everyone and all the tables were brought in and cleaned up. I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, made sure the guest bathroom was cleaned and that stuff was put away. I set up a tiny table for presents and cards. I bought dad some new car washing stuff because I reclaimed mine that I had left there.
I cooked the meat about an hour before everyone got here just to make sure it got done on time. I played Battleship with Suzanne while we waited for the food to get done. I destroyed her and sank her Battleship! Muahaha!
Everyone started to arrive and hang out while the taco meat and last minute stuff was dumped into bowls. "FOOD IS READY! COME GET IT!" Some of us sat at the table and some of us sat on the couch. I reminded everyone not to get anything on the couch...or else. We visited about all kinds of stuff and when we were done I helped Grammie fix her phone. We needed to update a lot of stuff on it.
I thought it would be fun to do a little activity since my yard really isn't big enough for croquet. I bought one of those little plastic bowling sets for everyone to bowl a frame. It was hilarious watching everyone try to throw this little plastic bowling ball at plastic pins down the hallway. People kept throwing them too hard and would miss the pins entirely. Of course we gave Grammie multiple turns because she was the one who kept missing the pins.
We cleaned up the pins and got ready for Father's Day gifts and cards. Dad really liked his car wash "basket" I got him. And once again I did get Erika and Doug to send me snippets to print off and glue to the cards I got for dad and grandpa. They actually got them to me faster this time than they did for Mother's Day. Both dad and grandpa enjoyed that Doug and Erika were able to sign their cards even though they couldn't attend.
We took a few pictures and since it was later in the day on a Sunday everyone needed to get home so they can begin their new week especially for the people who have to go to work the next day. We took the group picture and everyone said their goodbyes and headed home. I thought about hosting another get together some time in the summer.
Happy Father's Day!
