He had his alarm go off several times between 8 and 8:30. He didn't want to leave and wanted to snuggle longer. I told him several times to go get ready for his interview so he wasn't in a hurry. He finally took his shower, shaved, ate breakfast and suited up. He looked snazzy.
He left with plenty of time to get there and be early. I rolled over and went back to bed. Yesterday was a long day and I needed some extra sleep. I finally got up around 10:30, took a quick shower and ate some oatmeal and a banana while I watched some House reruns on TV. There is really nothing on during the week days unless you like soap operas and I just missed the Price is Right.
Ben called just after 11:45 telling me he was on his way back. He told me how it went and that he would see me in a bit. He called his mom shortly after. I saw him roll up and park. He came in and was very relieved that the interview, he'd been sweating over for about a month, was finally over. He said he felt that it went well and we would wait and see what happens.
"So happy to be done with the stress of the Seattle interview. It went well despite a few minor pauses and nervous fidgets but overall I am pretty sure I'm moving on! I will know more by the end of February. Now on to the weekend!"
We should hear back by the end of February.
He changed out of his clothes, got comfortable and we relaxed in front of the TV for about an hour. We ate Cheese-Its and continued watching House. We walked over to the Safeway to return the movie we rented and walked back. Since the weather was decent I thought we should get out and do something. I asked him if he wanted to go geocaching and he said sure. We had some time to kill before Jean came back from work. A while back I was writing down the locations of the last few old caches in Washington. There was one less than 3 miles from the house inside Magnuson Park, plus others, of course. I looked at the map on my phone and made some mental notes. We didn't have internet connection so we couldn't load a query on the GPS. We had to use Ben's geocaching phone App.
We put the coords into the Nuvi and she directed us to the park. It didn't take us very long and we really hoped the weather held up. We parked, grabbed the stuff we would need and started our walk to a virtual called, Kalakala Kid Kashe (GCE3A) which was placed on July 21, 2001. This seems so long ago now. I was in the summer between my junior and senior year of high school when this was placed!! It took us to a compass imprinted into the cement next to some playground toys. We had to answer a question and take our picture with it to prove we were there.
I asked him what the next one was and we decided not to search for that one because it hadn't been found in a while and there were a lot of missing logs. We moved on to Not Another Nano!! (GC3G09M) and I wasn't sure if it was going to really be a tiny nano inside the wooded area. I saw where everyone was walking and took a shot. Ben came in from a harder way but we both found what we were looking for. We were welcomed by a face that was missing a nose.
We continued around the loop to this artifact that looked pretty cool. I tried to get a decent shot of it with the good camera but the camera wouldn't focus on the part I wanted to focus on. I still got the cool shot though.
The next cache was not on the trail but inside the dog park area. Crap, we had to jump the fence or walk around. We chose to jump the fence. Chameleon (GC62RJH) was not hidden very well, in fact, the CO should have known that this particular tree loses its leaves every fall, thus exposing the cache in plain view. We found it right away. We were surprised this one hasn't disappeared yet.
We decided to go get one more before traffic got horrible and before Jean came home. We walked back to the Escape and drove to another part of the park. I guess we would call this the south side of the park. We parked, got out and walked to Golden Cache (GC216RZ). I haven't put maps on our new GPS yet so it is rather difficult navigating to caches on trails and roads (somehow I manage) and I took us down the wrong trail. We had to turn around and take the other one. It led us right to the cache. We saw some ducks playing in the ponds as we enjoyed our walk.
We hurried back to the Escape and left the park. Freaking Nuvi took us the long way to Jean's house via UW traffic! I was livid! Why didn't Nuvi take us back the way we came? It would have saved a lot of time and I wouldn't have to see all that horrible purple wandering around the streets. When we did get back, Jean was home and we visited for a little bit longer. She wanted to take us a few blocks up the street for dinner at this Italian place called, Marcello Ristorante.
I ordered some pasta and they ordered the chicken. It was delicious. I highly recommend it. We walked back and started getting our stuff ready. Jean goes to bed early and Ben got a hold of one of his friends who lives in Monroe. We decided to drive up there and stay with him. We thanked Jean for letting us stay with her and she told us to come back anytime. We packed up the Escape and drove the 23 miles northeast to Monroe, a place I haven't been since I played soccer back in 1997-98, when we played in the Skyriver Tournament during Labor Day.
We found his house after we had to go around the loop once and then back around. There were sooo many cars parked everywhere!! I didn't think we were going to find a spot but luckily I got to park in the front near his house. We went inside and met Sven and Erin, two of Ben's friends he's known for years but haven't seen them in two years or more. They seemed like pretty good people. We also met the three cats, who slept with us most of the night on the air mattress in the living room.
We chatted for about two hours and then Erin had to leave and Sven was tired and needed some sleep, we did too. We got our bed ready and I passed out really fast. It was nice to finally lay down and relax.
