A few months ago, while chatting with Trish, I asked her if we had a plan for Amy's birthday yet. She said she wasn't exactly sure because last year the weather was disappointing, and we had to do plan B after getting plan A all set up. We got super soaked. She said we will talk about what we were going to do but we had the weekend picked out.
After hearing about Jessie's dad and when they were going to have the memorial, I called Trish back to tell her we had to change the date of the birthday party. She said that was fine and I told her a little bit about Tom and his memorial service. She did agree that it was important to go to. So instead of making it a long weekend in Bonney Lake, we were going to go to the memorial in McMinnville and then drive to Bonney Lake afterwards to spend the night.
It was so nice to sleep in after a very long previous day of being in Oregon, at a memorial remembering Tom, my friend Jessie's dad. I am glad I went because it was really nice to see Becky, Jessie and Molly. They all got to meet Ben too.
I woke up to the smell of French toast Trish was making upstairs. I got ready for the day and went up to see if she needed any help. She was in the computer room ordering pizzas from Papa Murphy's for that afternoon's pizza party. Everyone eventually got up, we ate French toast, sausage bacon and our choice of breakfast drinks, I had milk and everyone else had coffee. We cleaned up the table and Ben and I went downstairs and played a few rounds of darts for a while. I won the first game and lost the next four. I suck at darts.
Over the next couple hours, we helped Trish get ready for the party and getting the decorations done while she went to pick up the pizzas and birthday cake. We sat outside for a little bit until the rain ruined it. Both Ed and Jean made it over and Amy picked up David. We played a few games of dice while the pizzas cooked in the oven. We ate pizza, watched the Mariners come from behind and beat the Rangers 6-5 in 10 innings. Amy and Jean opened their gifts, we had cake and spent the rest of the time playing rummy again. I won the first game of dice but the lost the second dice game and the game of rummy.
Amy is a huge fan of Friends and I tried really hard to find Friends related souvenirs while Mom and I were in New York City. We had a heck of a time. However, we did manage to find a Chandler Big Pop figure at one of the last souvenir shops we checked before leaving NYC. I thought that since Friends is still super popular, that there would be stuff around being sold to tourists. I mean the show has been over since 2004, which is almost 20 years ago, so I get why there isn't a plethora of Friends souvenirs around. So, what I did was, get a picture of Chandler with a NYC backdrop to prove he came from there and not another place or online, got a photo of the Empire State Building and the Friend's apartment exterior in Greenwich Village. I would have gotten the Twin Towers but because of stupid idiots that can't be done ever again. Amy received the three photos in a frame plus her Chandler Pop figurine and a couple other Friends related items I found not in NYC. She didn't see that enthusiastic about it, but Trish guaranteed that she was. I had to work hard to get that gift together.
We helped Trish clean up, changed out the bedding, made the bed, gathered all of our stuff and put it in the Escape. We said our goodbyes and headed towards Tacoma after getting gas. Ben wanted to meet up with a guy from OfferUp in Tacoma about a motorcycle helmet for me. We found three caches, Lighting Tacoma Sally (GC9TM1M), Guarding Tacoma Sally (GC9TA50) and My Not a Silly Goose (GC8BEHZ), while we waited to meet up with the guy at the Walgreens.
The helmet was used maybe twice, and it was a $150+ helmet we got for $70. It looked just like the one Ben is currently using. He said he would have to purchase a headset to install on the helmet so we could communicate with each other while we were riding. We got home just before 9 p.m. so we could get ready for the work week.
Happy Birthday Amy and Jean!
