Dinner and 14th Annual Oktoberfest in Puyallup

Ben wanted to do Oktoberfest again at the fairgrounds in Puyallup.  The last time we were able to go was in 2015 and then life got busy.  Life was slowly returning back into a routine even though it will never be the same after this past summer.

Ben got a hold of Walt and Wendy to see if they wanted to go out to dinner with us before we went to the fairgrounds for Oktoberfest since we would be in the area.  They said sure come on over.  Ben asked Josh what he was doing and while we were at Walt and Wendy's house we asked Chris and Rosa if they wanted to go too.  Ben also found out one of his friends Roman, (one of his online gaming friends) who used to live in Federal Way, was in town from North Carolina for the week.  He invited him to dinner as well.

We left early so we could visit with Walt and Wendy for a bit.  I had fun with their Halloween decorations.

We all drove towards the South Hill Mall in Puyallup and decided on Famous Dave's since I haven't been there since the Seahawk Super Bowl parade in 2014.  We all sat down at one of the large tables as we waited for Roman and Josh to arrive. We ordered our drinks and chatted.

When they did arrive, we shuffled chairs so everyone could sit with their people because it would be weird for Josh and Roman not to sit by Ben.  We all ordered our food.  I got the pulled pork and fries and it was delicious.  Josh ended up finding hair in his food so he got a new platter of food and both were free.  We paid and Roman, Walt and Wendy decided not to partake in the Oktoberfest festivities.  I told Roman it was nice to meet him and to Walt and Wendy that it was nice catching up with them.

The rest of us headed down the hill to the fairgrounds.  We parked in the blue lot and it was free for this weekend's event.  We paid our entrance fee and went inside to find some beer.

Ben brought his steins from several years ago from Leavenworth's Oktoberfest for him and Josh.  I just drank from one of their plastic cups.  I had their Paulaner Oktoberfest beer which was an Amber Ale.  Ben and Josh had several throughout the evening.  I went over to the far side of the building because they were playing the Cougar game.  We beat the Beavers 56-37.

We played cornhole a few times, was part of a giant conga line with Manuela Horn (she is so tall!) and played a few games of Hammerschlagen.  Josh, on his first time, actually won the pot of money!

We hung out for a while watching all the festivities and then they started closing down for the evening.  We got our epic beer group shot with the Puyallup Fair mascot before we left!

It was fun to be able to go to this again with some friends.  We will see if we get to come here next year or even make it over to Leavenworth's Oktoberfest some day.
