@ Kalama

Our next game, was at Kalama.  On the way to the game, we chose our secret Santa’s.  I picked Kyle.  We had so much fun with our secret Santa’s.  I did not start this game because the coaches thought I was better off the bench.  I proved them wrong.  My aunt Tracy came to watch us play.  I shared my epic poem about St. John with my teammates, they really liked it.  Our main goal this game was to stop their main scorer, Marielle Hickman.  If we could take her out of her game, Kalama would bust.  They would cherry pick us if we were not paying attention; they attempted to but could not pull it off against us.  Kalama was taller than us so we needed to block out everyone and get the rebound.  We had to defend the pick and roll, Hickman loved that move.  When we were on offense, we needed to be patient and attack the basket early causing them to get into foul trouble early.  Most of the game, I guarded Wall and Wright.  The second half we kept them to only eight points.

Amber accidentally scratched Hickman on the wrist; she had to tape it up.  Hickman was mentally out of the game after that.  One exciting play that I remember from that game was I stole the ball from the point and it started rolling loose towards our basket.  Me and the point guard ran after it.  We both drove on the floor after it; she grabbed the ball first because she had the better angle at it than I did.  I jumped towards her for the ball and it became a jump ball.  You should have seen her face, she was terrified of me.  That was the turning point of the game, we started our scoring rally.  Megan had 18 points that game, we won 49-38.
