The Pumpkin Patch with Mom and Erika

Mom had talked to me the prior weekend asking if I would take her to the pumpkin patch.  She really didn't want a pumpkin but more of a picture taking opportunity.  Then, I told her she waited too long and this was something we should have done sooner in October, plus I ran out of weekends.  October shouldn't be this busy but it was.  I just happened to get up early and gave mom a call since I didn't have anything planned for the day.  However, we had to get ready to go to Puyallup later on tonight for the haunted house's opening night.  Ben was at work until 4 then he was going to meet me in Puyallup.

I told her if she wanted to do this she better get ready.  I had her meet us (Erika went with me) at Rutledge off of 93rd since it was close and we have been here before so we knew what to expect.  Erika and I went the back way to Tumwater and we ended up behind mom because she went Waldrick Road.  We thought the timing was funny.

We parked and made our way to the wagon area and got distracted by the metal barrel train painted like cows for little kids.  Erika and I got in for the photo op.  We made mom giggle.

We walked around checking out the tent by the wheel barrows and all the pumpkins that were for sale that you didn't have to pick yourself.  Mom took a couple of photos there and wanted to know if we should get a wagon and drive it out to the patch.  We followed her.  It was so late in the season everything was dying.  The corn stalks, the pumpkins all had chunks missing from them, it was like a pumpkin zombie show.  We found the ones without so many holes and positioned them accordingly for the picture.

We decided we really didn't need anymore pumpkins so we walked back to the main area.  We went into the gazebo area (they had a fire going) and we found some of the sunflowers still intact.  Erika and I went on the swings for a while.  Mom headed over towards the chickens and then walked back over to take more pictures.

We decided we were done but I wanted to buy a sugar pumpkin to make homemade pumpkin pies out of.  I was feeling ambitions.  Ben and I had made one for the first time last Thanksgiving and it turned out great.  We walked it over to the barn area and we noticed the past years' corn maze designs.  Ben and I went in 2014 when the design were two Seahawk players.  I paid for my pumpkin and went back to our vehicles.  Mom asked what else we were doing today and I said later on I have to go out to Puyallup for the haunted house.  She asked if we wanted to go with her to Costco.  We said sure.

Erika rode with mom because she hadn't been inside the truck mom and dad bought last spring.  We met up at the Tumwater Costco and headed in.  Erika and I bought toilet paper and dryer sheets and mom bought stuff for the dentist office.  We filled up one of those flat carts.  Meanwhile, I had to call grandma to see what she was out of while we were here.  We picked up a few more items and were ready to check out.

Erika and I were ready to head to the Escape to go home but mom was like, "aren't you guys going to help me?"  We both came to the same conclusion, oh we see why you wanted us to come with you...free labor!  She just giggled and told us to hand her the stuff to put in the back of the truck.  She thanked us and Erika and I headed back home because she wasn't feeling too well.  The migraine was on the attack.  Mom went home.

I got ready to head to Puyallup for opening night (see Tuesday's blog for haunted house).
