4th of July

My friend Shauna and her wife asked me to watch their place and animals while they were gone for a week in Mexico. I agreed because mom and dad were also going to be gone to Reno for Erika's in-laws during the same time.  It was going to be hot according to the weatherman and Shauna had air conditioning.  The only con was I had to go back and forth from two houses multiple times a day to feed and water animals and put them to bed.

Ben had spend the entire day with me on Friday because he had a Kelly day.  We did all the chores and I wanted to do some fun things before I met up with some friends for a drink at Puerto Vallarta.  I also wanted to hide a cache for Shark Week, which was this coming Sunday, and I had a place picked out.  We parked the car and I got out the GPS.  The screen was BROKEN!!  I was so mad I couldn't contain myself.  That was my only means of geocaching and it was broken!!  So angry!

My friends had gotten done with work early so they wanted to meet up earlier.  I had my heart set on swimming in the pool.  We drove back up to Shauna's and found out her sister and her boyfriend were using it.  Dang it!  I left Ben there, he went to the store and used the pool after they were done, while I went to my meeting.  I had two tacos and a beer.  We talked about a lot of things and hoped for a conclusion.  Two weeks later we received our conclusion.  This is another long story.

We got up on Saturday, did our chores and headed over to my house to do more chores and to get ready for 4th of July at the lake.  We cut up a bunch of fruit becasue that is what we decided to bring.  We went and visited his friend Mike in Tenino for about an hour, picked up some ice and got grandma.

We stopped by Shauna's house one more time to lock the dog in the garage but her sister, brother in law and father were up there using the pool.  I asked them before they left to lock the dogs in the garage, they said they would.

We were now on our way to Paul and Peggy's lake house on Clear Lake between Eatonville and Graham.  We unloaded the car, got our stuff situated, we ate food, we visited, we went swimming (this was the first time since we've been going that it was actually warm enough to go swimming), first time in three years.  We played with the GoPro and enjoyed our holiday without any distractions.  This week so far was stressful.

We got dried off and changed clothes and played some basketball, threw the football around and knocked around on the table tennis.  As it got dark, the kids got out their fireworks and started to light them off on the dock by the water.  Our summer has been really dry this year and we've had a lot of brush fires.  The lake is probably the safest place to have fireworks.  I played with some sparklers some kids left behind.

Then they brought out the mortars and set them off.  It got dark enough for the barge to come out with the community firework show in the middle of the lake.  We watched in awe.  After the show, we gathered up our stuff, got in the car, drove grandma home and Ben and I drove back over to Shauna's house after putting my ducks and chickens away for the night.  We survived another 4th of July.
