Geocaching and A Boat Ride

We woke up the next day around 9:30 thinking we were going to get a phone call telling us where we had to be.  We didn't hear from anyone so we called Josh, he sounded annoyed when we asked where we were meeting up.  Later we found out his family and friends used him for information even though they knew what was going on.  So we waited.

We ate the milk and cereal I brought with us in the cooler for breakfast that day instead of spending another $20 on food that morning.  We ate it out of the coffee mugs and used the spoons that were provided for us in our room.

And now the daunting task of packing.  We only had this room until today and check out time was noon.  We discussed the pros and cons about coming home tonight or coming home on Sunday.  Sunday won.  When we get everything packed and went up to the lobby to check out we asked the guy if there were any more rooms available for tonight, he said everything was booked.  I guess we should ask Josh's parents if they had some extra room on the floor or a couch.  We had to figure out something to do while we waited to hear back from Josh.

I suggested we go get a few caches because there were plenty of them still around.  We took a short walk along the paved trail to Riverwalk (GCG10T) and of course there were muggles nearby setting up a raft.  We sat there like we were taking a rest.  I knew it was going to be a key holder underneath the bench.  We found it in a few seconds and put it back without them even suspecting us.  The water was so clear!

We basically got all the ones in the remote town area and the other day I was looking for some really cool caches to do and I found one called Chelan Falls Bridge (GC209T0) and the bridge was really cool.  We got onto the other part of US97 and drove through the east side of town.  We followed the road down the hill and that bike race was still going on.  We found the pullout and parked as close to the gate as we could.  The cache was easy to find but the view is what I really came here for.  Of course there was a fence around the area so we had to be careful with the camera and the shot we got.  I guess there was a landslide deeming this place unstable so they put the fences up.

We thought about grabbing some more but decided to cross the Bebee Bridge into Douglas County and spend some time at the Bebee Bridge Park along side the Columbia River.  We used the restroom and decided to wade in the river for a little while.  Then we relaxed and soaked up some sun after slathering a bunch of sunscreen on my ginger.

Then Josh called and told us to meet him at the Old Mill Park in Manson around 3:30.  It was the same place we were the other day when the ducks were stalking us.  We arrived way too early so we sat on the dock and ate sandwiches until we saw someone we knew.  Apparently, they were already there and have been boating and jet skiing since 11 that morning.   I guess a bunch of the family went out early because they were leaving that night.  We hopped on the boat and we glided along the lake for a while.  We met up with some of Josh's relatives out from Texas and grabbed the tube from them...then we picked up some of Sam's nieces and nephews.  We had a minor misunderstanding with the jetski place about the rental agreement.  It finally got all squared away about 45 minutes later.

Ben and I went on the tube first.  I haven't been out on a tube (let alone laying across it with my body) since high school.  I knew my forearms were going to hurt.  Bob, Josh's dad, definitely cranked  up the speed when we were out there.  Ben fell off first and when they slowed down I went underneath the water on the tube.  It sucked.  I went around two more times until I couldn't hold on anymore so I let go.  We let some of the other kids go for a while.  We had a great time.

Ben had asked Bob if we could spend the night tonight at their cabin.  He said yeah, there should be enough blankets and pillows around.  Sweet!  We helped them bring in the boat while Ben took Bob's sister back to the place she was staying.  He came back and told me that we got a $30 ticket.  What?!  There was no signage around!  Oh well.  I guess we learned for next time.  We followed Josh, Bob and Thomas up to the cabin.  There, Josh put the boat away with the help of his dad and grandpa, Ben gave me the tour of the place and I talked to the various relatives including Josh's grandparents.  I had no idea his mom was Hawaiian.  For dinner, we ate the leftovers from the wedding while we watched whatever was on the TV and talked and shared stories amongst everyone.

We went to bed late that night.  Thomas got the couch and Ben and I got the reclining love seat.  It was surprisingly comfortable.  I did get cold so I slept in a sleeping bag with a blanket over the top of me.  I was so tired it was great to finally relax.
