Celebrating 15 Years of Geocaching and Cinco de Mayo Game Night

My friends and I have been having game nights since 2009 off and on.  The last few years we've been trying to have them at least once a month for various holidays and birthdays and whatnot.  This game night happened to fall near Celeste's birthday and Cinco de Mayo.  We planned on having tacos and everyone would bring something whether it was dessert or a fixin' for the tacos.  Nicole hosted so she made the three different types of meat.

I got off work early so I had some time to make the two different types of rice.  I left a little earlier so I could get my cache for the day.  Groundspeak was celebrating the 15th birthday of geocaching.  If we went to an event or found a cache you would get a souvenir.  The Chehalis Western Trail was near Nicole's house and I decided to go get a few of them down the trail plus it was a nice day so why not right?

I parked my car next to the trail head, made sure I had my phone, GPS and keys and started my short walk to the first cache.  Lots of deja vu happening here.  I knew there used to be one here a few years back and someone had replaced it within the last year or so.  Very Easy Cache II (GC54E9C) was in a pretty good location right in plain sight.  If you weren't a geocacher you would not pay any attention to it.

I moved onto the next one, Seahawks Superbowl XLVIII (GC4XRED) and it was placed in the wooded area off the trail.  I was not too keen on the idea when I saw that this area was once inhabited by homeless people.  I tried to look for the cache as fast as I could just because of the clothes, garbage and sleeping bag nearby but also the bugs were starting to come out.  I just couldn't pinpoint the coords.  After a few minutes of running around I finally spotted a part of the container.  I pulled it out, checked the contents and found a moldy dollar.  I wrote my name in the log book and put it back better than I found it.

I walked back to the car.  I logged my finds and these fun screens popped up on my phone.

I headed over to the dollar store to see if they had any Cinco de Mayo stuff for our party and to waste time because Nicole wasn't quite off work yet.  I didn't find anything but wasted enough time.  I drove back over towards Nicole's house.  Celeste was already there and so was Allen.  Eventually Megan, Matt and Mason arrived followed by Lindsay and Justin.  Ben couldn't make it to this one because he went and celebrated his dad's life by going bowling with his mom and sister.  That was more important than coming to game night.  Allen had a date come over her name was And.  We dove into the tacos.

We played Cranium and that lasted just about the entire night.  Megan made a churro chex mix for dessert.  It was very addicting.  I left around 11:30 and got back to my house about midnight.  I got ready for bed and got my work stuff ready for tomorrow.

Next Adventure:  Olympic Peninsula and Ruby Beach
