The Inaugural Footgolf Game

About a month or so ago Ben and I watched a youtube video on footgolf.  We were interested.  Now to find a place to go to and on a day we have off.

On the way to visit his mom in Bonney Lake, we stopped by Meadowpark Golf Course, the closest footgolf place in the area.  Ben had called in earlier to kinda make a reservation for a tee time.  We had to change it because we left the area a little later than anticipated.  Ben had to buy a soccer ball at Walmart before heading to Tacoma.

We pulled into the parking lot, pumped up the balls and walked into the clubhouse to hear about the course.  We paid our $10.50 and he gave us instructions and a score card.

We went and practiced putting first.

Once we got the hang of it, we started on the course.  It was a 18 hole course that followed a lot of the golfer's fairways.  We really thought we'd be in the way but we were never in the way.  At first it was weird kicking a soccer ball on a golf course but then we slowly got used to it.  The only other golf I've ever done is disc golf and it's on its own course.

I started out bad.  I was behind Ben by a couple of strokes.  Most of my holes were more than 3 and 4.  My worst hole was 9, with a whopping 6 strokes.  Mostly because I doubted myself and putted the ball too hard.  Ben ended up winning the first half of our footgolf game.

The second half I started improving a little.  I was very close to getting a hole in one on 11.  It stopped less than two feet from the hole.  Ben had a mishap on hole 13 with 7 strokes...he wasn't too happy after that one.  I think I pulled ahead then.  Then my ankle near my shin started to get sore.  I think I was kicking the ball too high on my foot.  It was a bruise the next day.

When we got to hole 18, I thought it would be fun to use our left foot to see how we did.  Ben cheated a little by drop kicking the ball instead of teeing off.  We actually did alright with our left feet.  I ended up winning our first attempt at footgolf with a score of 75 to Ben's 80.  We got done around 9 and decided to dink around the putting area again for a little bit.  It was getting dark so we decided to head to his mom's house, plus we were getting hungry.

We ended up getting to his mom's place and having some pizza while we visited a little bit.  We got our stuff ready for our hike tomorrow.

Next Adventure:  Mowich Lake
