Seattle Storm Game

I got a text just as I clocked in at work.  This was around 6:30 a.m.  I was like, wow, Shauna's up this early?  Her text said that BJ couldn't go to the Storm game with her and asked if I could go.  I had no plans this evening so why not?  She asked for me to be at her house around 4:30 and we can leave from there.

We finished up our work and Dr. Smith asked us if we wanted to go to lunch with him.  Later I found out it was because we had to come back and do an emergency temporary crown on a patient who lost theirs.  We left the office around 1:30-2:00.  I really needed a nap and I knew I would not get one today.

We did our chores, post office, bought chicken food, went to the recycle and picked up our own mail in Rainier.

We got home, unloaded the chicken food, let the ducks out, changed and got ready to go over to Shauna's house.  She texted me that I could come over whenever.  I left as soon as I could because mom was going to meet dad in town.  I got everything I needed and drove over to Shauna's house.

I got there and found out she got a new dog.  They rescued him from a household that was going to put him down.  Shauna got ready and we drove off towards I-5 north.  Dupont/Ft. Lewis traffic was horrible.  It continued into Tacoma, into Fife and part of Federal Way.  We were suppose to meet her friends at a Greek restaurant near Key Arena.  We texted them that we may not make it in time and to go ahead and order food.  Then I realized that the Yankees were in town to play the Mariners at 7.  It was going to take us a while to get to the Key Arena.

We got to Seattle around 5:40 and didn't get to the parking garage until about 5:50.  We hustled over to Dick's, which was down the road, bought some hamburgers, a shake and coke.  We briskly walked back to Key Arena.  Pemco had a free throw game set up and me and Shauna decided to take a shot at it.  Winner won a shirt.  While waiting in line, I decided to take a picture with their bear carving to get a free picture out of it.  She liked my pose so much, she wanted to put me on their Twitter website.  She asked that I fill out a waiver first.

Shortly after, it was our turn to shoot free throws.  I think mine was messed up because it never told me to start and then like 10 seconds later it re-started itself and I knew I had more than 35 points.  Shauna ended up winning but she gave me her shirt because her and BJ had a bunch of them from previous games.  We walked down the stairs and went inside.  We found our seats and chatted with Shauna's friends who have season tickets behind us.  They are hilarious.

I found out that Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird were injured and having surgery so they aren't going to be playing most of the season.  Bird was still in the program but Jackson wasn't.  We were playing the Tulsa Shock and they were one of the teams who had a lower rank in the standings.  We had a good shot even though we didn't have Jackson and Bird in the line up.  Shauna did say don't hold your breath, this is a rebuilding year.

There were good points and bad points of the game.  They let the other team shoot and rebound their own shot without blocking out.  They made several points in the game because of second chance shots.  This was the first time in Storm franchise history where we did not make a three-point shot.  We did tie it up and pull ahead of them several times.  The last quarter got pretty disappointing.

During one of the time outs in the fourth, the crew came out to throw shirts into the audience.  Four of the helpers were the Seahawks, specifically the four guys from the Legion of Boom, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman.  One of those shirts made it near us and fell underneath the seats.  One of Shauna's friends bent down and grabbed it.  The Seahawks signed the tape that was rolled up around the shirts.  On her tape was Brandon Browner's autograph.  A little while later just before the game ended, she threw the shirt on me and stuck the tape on my shoulder.  I turned around, you don't want your shirt?  She said, I can't fit into a medium.  Then I asked, you don't want the autograph?  She said, no...I'm a Steelers fan.  I told her thank-you.

We left seconds before the game got over since we lost by nine, 67-58.  We hustled to the car, got in and headed home...with NO traffic!
