I spent New Year's Eve a little differently this year. It was nice connecting back with my Edminster side this past few months. I've gotten to know Bob and Bev through geocaching. They started in '09 and I did summer of '10. They are way ahead of me with 4,000+ and I am almost to 2,000. The last time I could remember doing anything with them was back when the church was still being run by my great grandfather Clyde and that was back before I was in high school. It's been fun connecting with them again.
One year back in college I spent New Year's Eve with Nickey and her family in Bellevue. We went to a bar with an insane cover charge of 20 bucks! Nick and I couldn't afford it so her sister, Katie paid for us. This place was definitely where the rich kids hung out.
Throughout childhood, we spent it over at Lauren's house. A few of us, would watch movies, run around outside (weather permitting) eat junk food and drink lots and lots of sparkling cider. Her dad would shoot off the cannon at midnight, we wore goofy hats and blow on the festive noise makers. After the initial stroke of midnight we would settle down and watch some of the fireworks on TV at the Space Needle. Those were the days and I miss them a lot. I have the memories and the pictures from the good ol days. I hope they continue to remember them.
I will make new memories in the years to come.
